Firestone Walker XXIV Anniversary 12oz

Since founding their brewery in 1996, Firestone Walker has specialized in the rare art of brewing beer in oak barrels. In the fall of 2006, they released a limited-edition, oak-aged strong ale called “10” to commemorate their 10th anniversary. This beer was blended with the help of their local winemaker friends, and the experience was greater than they could have ever imagined.

We now present XXIV, their 15th release in what has become an annual autumn rite at the brewery. Every late summer, right before the wine harvest gets rolling, they invite local winemaker friends to the brewery to help blend the annual Anniversary Ale. Winemakers are practicing experts in the art of blending, and they could provide invaluable input for creating a seamless beer from numerous barrel-aged component ales.

Coedo/Denver Beer Co. Mile High Kampai! Saison 21oz

Denver Beer Co. was born in their garages with a few batches of home brew and a love for the craft of brewing. Serving only premium artisan ales and lagers, They utilize fresh ingredients and embrace both innovative and old world styles of beer. Similar to a farmer’s table, their beer selections change with the seasons. By brewing in small batches, they can ensure that a few old favorites are always on tap, but new goodies greet visitors each month.

COEDO was founded by a family which started organic farming with the concept of “peace, safe, and delicious” early in 1970s in the city of Kawagoe where agriculture is one of the core industries for some hundreds years. There is a historical approach to keep the soil healthy by growing barley as a green manure in the area of Kawagoe, Saitama. The present organic farmers haven’t harvest the barley but just mix them into the soil for keeping their soils in good condition. “Are these barley able to be utilized to produce beers? “, this was the initial motive for letting us start a brewery.

Stone Brewing has been cranking out new brews right and left their Notorious P.O.G. Berliner Weisse is delicious! This Berliner is a tart, tropical fruited juicy beer inspired by POG juice with a blend of passion fruit, orange and guava.

"Stone Notorious P.O.G. Berliner Weisse effortlessly rides its effervescence of tart orange citrus and tropicality with sip-it-like-its-Sunday ease. It's tart, refreshing, citrusy and spectacular. On the nose: tropical fruits, citrus and honey. Passion fruit and guava flavors are present beneath a bright punch of orange. It's everything POG lore serves up, but it's beer, so clearly it's better."

Sucaba 2019 is a 11.3 percent English barleywine-style ale brewed with munton’s pale, crisp maris otter pale, Munich, dark and light crystal and chocolate malts along with Spalter Select hops before being aged in bourbon barrels for one year. The barleywine debuted in 2008 as part of the Paso Robles, Calif.-based brewery’s Proprietor’s Vintage Series but was replaced in the brewery’s schedule in 2017 by Bravo barrel-aged imperial brown ale, only to return last year.

Aged through four seasons and from a blend of the top Bourbons around, this Ten Fidy has morphed into a monster of cranked up flavor. Espresso, burnt sugar, rich chocolate, caramel notes are now driving alongside the vanilla, oak, bourbon from the barrel and been smoothed out during maturation. Even at 12.9% (75 IBUs) it is cool and drinkable, letting each sip add more and more complexity.

Brewery De Glazen Toren is a Belgian brewery located in Mere , a district of Erpe-Mere near Aalst . Teacher and beer enthusiast Jef Van den Steen got to know soulmate Dirk De Pauw at the end of the 1980s via the municipal politics in Erpe-Mere. They started brewing themselves by way of hobby and decided to take the brewing course at Ghent University College CTL (today University College Ghent ) to better their brewing knowledge. After this, the quality of their beer improved. The success of these hobby brothers made them think of setting up a more professional brewery, without giving up their main profession. In the end, the company De Glazen Toren was founded in 2002, after which the pair got the reinforcement of a third partner, Marc De Neef. The brewery officially started in 2004 with the first beer, Saison d'Erpe-Mere.

Bull & Bush Brewery - Colorado Barrel Collective #5 Treacle Porter 16.9oz

Bull & Bush first opened its doors in 1971 as a restaurant/pub in the Glendale area of Denver. In the mid-90s, they had the game-changing idea to build a brewery adjacent to the restaurant. Since brewing its first batch on New Year’s Day of 1997, the Bull & Bush brewing operation has become world renowned for its great tasting and innovative creations. Master Brewer Gabe Moline’s brews have earned multiple accolades including the Best Beer in a Brewpub award in Westword’s Best of Denver, multiple awards at the annual Denver-hosted Great American Beer Festival (GABF) and most recently the Bull and Bush’s “MAN BEER” was given the highest honor, a Gold award, at the World Beer Cup – the world’s largest commercial beer competition.

Six or so years ago Mile High Wine and Spirits and Grapevine Wine and Liquors decided to partner with The Bull & Bush to do a collaborative beer series. Born out of this thought is the current Colorado Barrel Collective that is on its fifth iteration. Both stores send freshly emptied Whiskey barrels to the brewery and come together on an innovative beer that is laid down for months to years. CBC #5 is a Bourbon barrel aged treacle (molasses) porter. Driven by notes of molasses, vanilla, bourbon, and oak, this beer is an amazingly drinkable 10% ABV offering with rich fudgy goodness. Do yourself a favor and grab one or more bottles to drink now and age well into the colder winter months. Cheers!

Their Mosaic Double IPA has big grapefruit, tropical, and pineapple notes on the nose with a touch of caramel from the malt. The taste is all inclusive of the smell except the sweet malts come out a bit more. Slightly bitter with a great mouthfeel a touch of booze. Delicious!

Share This: OC is a rich, imperial stout infused with orange-chocolate flavors. It’s a profile The Bruery is quite fond of, given the abundance of orange trees in their own backyard. Food Forward takes it one step further – reaching over 100,000 people a month throughout eight counties in Southern California (including Orange County) with recovered fresh fruits and vegetables that would normally go to waste from backyard fruit trees, public orchards, farmers markets and the downtown Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Market. To achieve the orange-chocolate flavor profile in this beer, they use orange zest, vanilla and TCHO cacao nibs. For every bottle they produce, Food Forward receives one dollar.

Imperial IPAs, or double IPAs, are deep gold to deep amber in color and range in alcohol from 7.5-10% or so. These beers are medium-to-full bodied and are distinguished by prominent American hop aromas, flavors and an abrasive, lingering hop bitterness. These intense hop characteristics should be balanced by a rich malt backbone. Depending on the varieties of hops used, a wide range of flavors including tart citrus peel, pepper and earthy, pine-like flavors and aromas may be encountered. These ales represent a challenge to brewers in terms of balance and drinkability, and have exploded in popularity in recent years with many craft breweries producing a version of the style.

This Imperial IPA is the epitome of Epic's IPAs. This hard hitting brew manages to pack a punch while still providing that fantastically complex IPA flavor. Slightly floral aromas hit the nose while resinous flavors dominate the body, finishing with the ideal palate cleansing bitterness. Hazy copper orange color. Aromas and flavors of tarragon honey, grilled citrus and root vegetables with a supple, dryish medium-to-full body and a bitter papaya-banana custard, pine, pepper and mineral accented finish. Very well balanced and flavor packed.
La Folie, French for "the folly," is a beer steeped in New Belgium brewing tradition. This wood-aged, sour brown spends one to three years in big, oak barrels, known as foeders. And when the beer finally hits the glass, La Folie is sharp and sour, full of green apple, cherry, and plum-skin notes. Pouring a deep mahogany, the mouthfeel will get you puckering while the smooth finish will get you smiling. Not a beer for the timid, La Folie is a sour delight that will turn your tongue on its head. Do yourself a favor and grab a bottle, or more, to show your taste buds why it's considered one of the best sour beers around.

Funkwerks first opened its doors in December of 2010 by owners Gordon Schuck and Brad Lincoln. Gordon’s brewing skills and recipe ingenuity landed him with a gold medal-winning Saison in 2007 at the National Homebrew Competition. Meanwhile, Brad’s passion for craft beer originated from his need for a good beer after a long day of crunching numbers as an accountant in Portland, Oregon. The dynamic duo first met during the winter of 2009 while attending the Siebel Institute of Technology. They were both studying Brewing Science. With Brad’s numbers-know-how and Gordon’s super-star palate, their Saison-focused brewery, Funkwerks, was born.

Avery Brewing recently started their Botanicals & Barrels series and each of the six beers has two things in common. First, they are all aged in barrels for at least three months and second, they all consist of just one ingredient outside of the standard grain, hops, yeast, and water recipe. Their Vanilla Bean Stout has a double dose of vanilla derived from both fresh Bourbon barrels and the trio of Tongan, Ugandan, and Mexican whole vanilla beans that is complemented by essences of chocolate, caramel and molasses to round out this luxuriously silky stout.

Founded in 1995, AleSmith Brewing Company is a San Diego based artisanal craft brewery that specializes in handcrafted ales inspired by the European classics. Deeply rooted in the amateur and craft brewing communities, AleSmith ales have continued to garner both national and international awards. In 2015, AleSmith celebrated its 20th year in production by opening a new state-of-the-art brewery in Miramar. “AleSmith 2.0” features an entirely new tasting room and brew system with the capability to pump out more than 100,000 barrels/year only two blocks west of the original location.

Speedway Stout’s ominous, pitch-black appearance has become a hallmark of this modern-day classic. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor, supported by notes of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. A healthy dose of locally-roasted coffee from Ryan Bros. Coffee, Inc. added to each batch brings out the beer’s dark chocolate flavors and enhances its drinkability. Despite its intensity, Speedway Stout’s fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel make it very smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. This beer ages very well and will continue to mature for many years to come.

They are dedicated to honoring their customers, delivering quality beers, working as a team, and celebrating the culture of craft beer. The Brewery overlooks the wild and scenic Deschutes River in beautiful Bend, Oregon, which is home base to their adventurous, award-winning lineup of pioneering beers. They encourage folks to drop in, sample their beers, and meet the beer-obsessed folks who tend them.

Black Butte XXVII is their 27th anniversary Imperial Porter that was brewed with Theo’s cocoa nibs, pomegranate molasses and select spices, blended with apricot puree, and then aged in bourbon barrels.
Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen 16.9oz

The Oktoberfest celebration might be one of the single most recognized images in traditional beer culture. Large thirsty groups gathered in close proximity, steins in hand and full of frothy bier, the ladies delightfully showing off in their Dirndl dresses while the men dawn the iconic Lederhosen, this is a sight that is not only iconic but still practiced within the southern German region of Bavaria. This exuberant gathering celebrates a beer that shares the name of Oktoberfest but is also classified as the Marzen style.

Named as the ‘March’ beer, Marzen was originally brewed at the end of winter as a way to supply beer throughout the warm summer months. Before the modern age of brewing equipment and high sanitation, many beers would easily become infected with ambient bacteria that thrive in warmer weather. Because the summer month meant that almost no beer was to be brewed, many breweries would make an extra large batch of beer at the end of March that would be aged in the cool caves until the next harvest season. The timing of the new season’s crop was easily integrated and eventually gave name to the moment that happened around the month of October.

The Marzen beers had extra amounts of hops added and helped to act as a preservative for the beer over the extended months of aging. As a way to free the barrel’s space for the new season of brewing, a celebration would be held to drink up all the remaining beer. The Oktoberfest celebration was a way of bridging one season unto another, an acknowledgement of the new harvest of ingredients and an acceptance of the future to come.

The Brauerei Aying or Ayinger Brewery is a large representation of the beer culture and styles that can be found within Bavaria. Known for their focus on the highest quality local ingredients, Ayinger is a special brewery that can happily be enjoyed stateside. One of their most celebrated seasonal beers is the Oktoberfest-Marzen.

Bull & Bush Brewery - The Old North End New England IPA 500ml

The Bull & Bush opened its doors in 1971 and soon found itself in the middle of Glendale’s heyday. Long before LoDo attracted the young socialite crowd, Glendale was rocking with the Denver party crowd and it wasn’t uncommon to see a line of people outside eagerly waiting to get through the Bull & Bush front door and into the action. In the mid-90s, the brothers had the game-changing idea to build a brewery adjacent to the restaurant. Since brewing its first batch on New Year’s Day of 1997, the Bull & Bush brewing operation has become world renowned for its great tasting and innovative creations. Master Brewer Gabe Moline’s brews have earned multiple accolades including the Best Beer in a Brewpub award in Westword’s Best of Denver and multiple awards at the annual Denver-hosted Great American Beer Festival (GABF).

The Old North End is Bull & Bush’s entrance into the New England, or North-East, IPA craze. This style has a juicy, tropical aroma and flavor that comes from the use of English yeasts and hop breeds like Citra and Mosaic. Northeast IPAs also tend to have a softer mouthfeel thanks to the sulfite-low East Coast water and the use of oats and wheat in the mashbill. Instead of that classic IPA bite, these beers are often less bitter and have a hazy appearance if they’re partially or wholly unfiltered. Bitterness has been a really divisive issue with IPAs, so this new style of beer really opens the doors for people who may have been turned off by bitterness. The Old North End is dry-hopped with citra lupulin powder! Grab one of these deliciously juicy hazy IPAs today!
Cherry Glider was envisioned as a way to enhance the natural flavors already found in the base Glider recipe without adding too much unnecessary sweetness or sugars. The final product is quite an accomplishment. Cherries are immediately recognizable, both in the delicate rosé color of the liquid and in the fragrant, fruity aroma. Freshly seeded Bing cherries, allspice, and citrus fruit hit the senses with delightful clarity. Sliced green apples are apparent as well but seem to take a step back as the distinct qualities from the cherries make themselves known. The carbonation is light as the cider is poured into a glass, only upon first sip do the tiny formation of bubbles collect and show their strength.

Bull & Bush Brewery - MAN BEER IPA 16.9oz

Exciting aromas– like a citrus-filled fruit basket. It’s a beer with attitude. The foundation of this beer is very malty, marrying nicely with the bold hop notes that emerge on the palate and ultimately dominate its lingering finish. A beer not soon forgotten.

The mountains of Summit and Nugget hops in this high gravity Imperial will thrill even the most experienced beer explorer. Savory evergreen and pineapple aromas mingle with flavors of bitter, resinous pine and grapefruit pith. A colossal rush of hoppy adventure!

The Post Brewing Co. - Achtertuin Seizoen Farmhouse Ale 750ml

Backyard Season is beer drinking season. Achtertuin Seizoen is the perfect beer for backyard beer drinking. Inspired by the delicious farmhouse ales of Belgium and Holland, this beer is a fragrant reminder that life is better outside.

Brewed to 5.6% ABV with barley, wheat and rye malts, this hazy golden ale is spiced with three distinct American hop varieties for a floral and fruity aroma. French ale yeast provides delicious fruit and spice notes and brings the beer to a dry and mildly tart refreshing finish.

Put on your sunglasses. We’re going out to the achtertuin!
